From the Revd. Dorothy Woffenden, The Rectory, Aldford.

We are on the threshold of a new chapter in the life of our Benefice. On the 3rd November at a service in Aldford Parish Church, the Reverend Julian Beauchamp will begin his ministry among us.

During the service, Jules will swear allegiance to the Queen and to the Bishop of Chester. Then having gone through the legal formalities of being appointed to the Churches of Waverton, Aldford and Bruera, he will be reminded of his responsibility to prepare people for baptism, to teach and to encourage us to read and study the Bible. He will also be affirming the privilege and joy of presiding at the Holy Communion. Members of the congregation are actively involved in this part of the service by presenting to Jules, water at the font, a bible at the pulpit and bread and wine at the altar.

It is an exciting time! A time when we are all called to pray and put our trust in God who reveals himself in Jesus Christ and who has promised to be with us for all time in the power of the Holy Spirit.

On a different matter, can I take this opportunity to thank all those people who have donated tools for the “Twam” initiative? You have all been most generous.

Let me finish with a prayer of thanksgiving,

Almighty God, we thank you for Jules and his family as they come to serve us in our communities. We pray that we will all work together to show forth your love in action in Waverton, Aldford and Bruera.

We also pray for those who receive the gifts that have been given to “Twam.”  May these tools be used to give people hope for the future.

We offer our prayer in the name and for the sake of Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.

Every blessing to you all,

Dorothy
